NEWS: Activist Alhaji Mumakai Unagha Pleads On Cancellation Of Children's Day Celebration

Lawyer and activist, Alhaji Mumakai Unagha has urged Federal Government to cancel the 2014 Children Day celebration as the Chibok school girls remain in confinement by the Boko Haram abductors.

Unagha in a statement in Warri yesterday noted that there is no basis for celebration while the girls are still in custody of the terrorist group, and innocent Nigerians murdered on daily basis.

He stated that, “It is regrettable that in over a month, the good future the innocent girls were preparing for could be aborted midway without serious efforts on the part of government.

“Children and Youths should boycott the celebration should the government fail to rescue the kidnapped and go ahead organising celebration as there no reason Nigerian children should celebrate when their colleagues are languishing somewhere.”

He urged  Nigerian children to rather use the occasion to stage a nationawide protest May 27th should nothing be done to free them.

He supported the pressure on Federal Government to negotiate with the Boko Haram for the safety and security of the girls.
