NEWS: Senator Ahmed Zanna Says I Know Where The Female Students Are But I Wont Tell Anybody' #BringBackOurGirls

Nigeria is at a cross road and that is the explanation for this madness going on. While international community and countries like the USA, France, China, the UK are strategizing on how to rescue the over two hundreds girls kidnapped from their School in Chibok, Borno State, a Nigerian senator representing Borno North, Senator Ahmed Zanna, has said he wont tell anyone where the abducted girls are being kept.
As an insider, he was asked where the girls are, the senator said:
“I won’t tell where they are being kept again because I have told the Federal Government where they are likely being kept before the video was released. Now that I saw the video, the vegetation in the clip confirmed what I have told them earlier. “If they want to know where they are being kept, then the government should remember what I told them before. What I can tell you is that the girls are no longer here in Chibok.”
Senator Zanna made this declaration on Monday on CNN when he was being interviewed by Isha Sesay.

When the lawmaker was asked by the reporter about what he felt about the latest video released on Monday by the Boko Haram terror group showing some of the abducted school girls, the senator said he experienced mixed feelings when he saw the video.

Sen. Zanna opined that while he was happy to know that the kidnapped girls are still alive, he also informed that he felt sad to realise that the teenagers are being used as ransoms by the terrorists in exchange for some of the members captured by the military.

While saying he was privy to information about the movement of the insurgents when the girls were abducted, the Senator said he told security agents that contrary to their belief that the abducted girls were in Sambisa Forest with their abductors, that they have since been split and ferried through Lake Chad to neighbouring countries among which he said were Chad, Niger and Cameroon.

Senator Zanna blamed the military for failure to rescue the girls before the development given that they got all the necessary information about the movement of the insurgents from him personally.

NEWS: Nigeria Very & Terribly Slow – US Officials #BringBackOurGirls

WASHINGTON  (AFP) – US officials on Thursday slammed Nigeria’s “slow” response to the kidnapping of more than 200 schoolgirls by Islamic militants and renewed criticism of its military over its human rights record.

Democratic senator Robert Menendez, chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, said Nigeria had been “tragically and unacceptably slow” to deal with the crisis, despite offers of assistance from the United States and other countries.

“I have called on President (Goodluck) Jonathan to demonstrate the leadership his nation is demanding,” Menendez said.

The militant Boko Haram group is currently holding more than 200 schoolgirls hostage after raiding the northeastern Nigerian town of Chibok on April 14.

The Pentagon meanwhile criticized Nigeria for failing to react swiftly to the rise of Boko Haram, who have been blamed for thousands of deaths since 2009.

Nigeria has typically resisted security cooperation with the West over the group.
“We cannot ignore that Nigeria can be an extremely challenging partner to work with,” Department of Defense official Alice Friend said.

“In the face of this sophisticated threat, Nigeria’s security forces have been slow to adapt with new strategies and new tactics.”

US State Department official Robert Jackson, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, said Washington had been “urging Nigeria to reform its approach to Boko Haram.”

The United States has accused Nigeria’s military of widespread rights abuses in its fight against Boko Haram, which Jackson said had been counter-productive in dealing with the group.

“The State must demonstrate to its citizens that it can protect them and offer them opportunities,” he said.

“When soldiers destroy towns, kill civilians and detain innocent people with impunity mistrust takes root.”

Friend said Nigeria’s “record of atrocities perpetrated by some of its security forces during operations against Boko Haram have been widely documented.”

The United States would not provide assistance to any Nigerian military units who had been implicated in rights abuses, she added.

The United States has sent a team of around 30 civilian and military personnel to help Abuja in its hunt for the kidnapped schoolgirls.

The US military has also confirmed it is flying surveillance drones as well as manned reconnaissance planes over the country in an effort to locate the girls.

Boko Haram militants kidnapped 276 girls from their school in Chibok last month. Dozens managed to escape but 223 are thought to remain in the hands of the group.

NEWS: President Goodluck Jonathan NOT Willing To Release Boko Haram Fighters For Abducted Chibok Secondary School Girls

Nigeria‘s President Goodluck Jonathan has ruled out the release of Boko Haram fighters in exchange for the freedom of more than 200 school girls kidnapped

Britain’s Africa minister Mark Simmonds, in Nigeria for talks about the international rescue mission, told reporters Wednesday that he raised the issue with Jonathan during a meeting in Abuja.

“I did discuss this with the president and he made it very clear that there will be no negotiation with Boko Haram that involves a swap of abducted schoolgirls for prisoners”, he told reporters.

Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau suggested in a video released on Monday that he may be prepared to release the girls if Nigeria freed militants held in the country’s jails.

Interior Minister Abba Moro immediately rejected the plan, telling AFP that the Islamist group, which has waged a deadly insurgency in northeast Nigeria since 2009, could not dictate terms.

A door appeared to have opened to discussions about the girls on Tuesday, when special duties minister Taminu Turaki indicated that the teenagers’ freedom could up for discussion.

Simmonds said Jonathan had now ruled that out, he added that the president was still prepared to fulfil his pledge of talking to the extremists about wider issues to end the violence.

- International search and support -

The rejection of a prisoner swap came as international powers ramped up the search effort, including with the use of US military surveillance drones and manned aircraft.

The Pentagon said it had deployed the robotic Global Hawk, which flies at high altitude, and the manned MC-12, a propeller plane heavily used in Afghanistan.

Both types of aircraft are “unarmed” and strictly being used for surveillance.

However, the data is not yet being shared with the Nigerians because Washington is still working out an agreement to govern the sharing of intelligence, Colonel Steven Warren told reporters.

Hawkish Republican Senator John McCain said the Pentagon should consider acting unilaterally and sending US special forces in to rescue the girls.

He mocked the capabilities of Nigeria‘s military and said any special forces entry to deal with the Boko Haram “animals” should be done without their knowledge.

US military officials said privately that a rescue mission would be fraught with massive risks and dangers and that it currently was not deemed an option.

In London, British Prime Minister David Cameron told parliament a Sentinel surveillance aircraft and a military team would be sent to Abuja to assist in the search.

France, Israel and China are also involved, with the hunt focused on the Sambisa forest area of Borno state, although there are fears the girls may have been split up and taken to neighbouring Chad or Cameroon.

Worldwide interest has been growing in the plight of the missing girls after 276 teenagers were abducted from their school in the remote northeastern town of Chibok on April 14. A total of 223 are still missing.

Jonathan’s office said he had received “solidarity calls” from the prime ministers of Algeria, Abdelmalek Sellal, and Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif.

In Paris, President Francois Hollande’s office said the leaders of Benin, Cameroon, Niger and Chad would meet with Jonathan in the French capital on Saturday for a security summit.

Representatives from the European Union, Britain and the United States would also attend, the Elysee said.

“The meeting will discuss… how to cut off (Boko Haram) by intelligence, how to train to fight and drive out the killers,” Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius added.

- Special powers -

Jonathan on Tuesday requested parliamentary approval for a six-month state of emergency first imposed in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states on May 14 last year.

Lawmakers in the lower House of Representatives began discussing the issue while senators from the upper chamber summoned the ministers of defence and police affairs, military and security chiefs to brief them on Thursday.

By law, the request has to be approved by two-thirds of both chambers.

The extension request was widely expected but its effectiveness has been questioned.
The governor of Yobe state, however, voiced his opposition to extending the state of emergency and it is likely that Borno and Adamawa will follow suit.

All three states are run by the main opposition All Progressives Congress party, which is eyeing power in next year’s general election.

Attacks have increased on rural areas leading to mounting civilian casualties. More than 1,500 are estimated to have been killed this year alone.

Security analysts have urged Nigeria to improve its counter-insurgency tactics including more use of intelligence, instead of just conventional means, to defeat guerrilla fighters.

International military leaders hope their expertise could help refine Nigeria‘s tactics against Boko Haram. AFP

NEWS: NDF Commends International Community Over Moves To Rescue The Abducted Chibok Secondary School Girls

ABUJA — Northern delegates at the ongoing National Conference, under the aegis of  Northern Delegates Forum, NDF, has commended the international community for joining Nigeria in her efforts to rescue over 200 female students of Chibok, Borno State abducted by Boko Haram terrorists about three weeks ago.
Spokesman of the NDF, Mr Anthony Sani, who made this known pooh-poohed claims by some Nigerians that the involvement of foreign countries in search for the missing girls amounted to their meddling into the nation’s internal affairs.

He said there was no need to politicise the matter of security challenges or even  disagreement in view of the fact that the overriding interest now was to rescue the girls.
In a statement in Abuja, yesterday, Sani said:

‘’When one reads that there is disagreement among some Nigerians about the involvement of foreigners in Nigeria’s search for the abducted girls, it is upsetting.

“Upsetting because there is no basis for the disagreement, considering the over-riding urgent need to rescue the girls which our efforts alone have not yielded the desired result, and the fact that terrorism transcends national boundaries''.

“The NDF, therefore, welcomes the offer of other countries to join the Nigerian government’s effort to rescue the abducted girls. There is no room for national pride being hurt in this matter. After all, Nigeria has been helping other countries to sort out their security challenges.

“More over, it does not matter whether the cat is black, white, brown or it is spotted, as long as it can catch the rat.
“And that was why when foreign missions visited Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, in the past, the forum appealed to them to come to the aid of Nigeria in the campaigns against the insurgence through sharing of intelligence, training, employment of counter terrorism strategies and operations of security personnel.

The NDF, therefore, wishes to appeal to our leaders at all level (be they political, religious and community leaders) and all public spirited individuals and groups with patriotic courage not to bring matter of security challenges into the political cockpit.”

NEWS: Nollywood Actor, Chidi Mokeme Says 'I Have Forgiven My Parents'

Nollywood actor, Chidi Mokeme recently expressed sadness towards how growing up was like for him due to the kind of discipline he got from his parents.

The actor narrated that he began his career as a model, but was unable to satisfy some of his needs as at that time, and as such, had to think of another means of survival.

Chidi noted that at the time he joined Nollywood, there was no money, stating that modeling was better off. He added that as a model, you already see yourself as an actor because every time you go out to model one product or the other, you have to take on a character.

The actor also pointed that it was war between him and his parents to come to terms with his chosen profession. He said that it had to take the intervention of some family friends before they got to appreciate his efforts.

He further revealed that his father had to always lock the television and go out with the key so that none of them could have access to the TV and only leaves with the memory of some clips he might have watched and aspire to be there someday.

Chidi disclosed that his family were more interested in education and had to keep a close watch on him, but they never knew what he was up to. “So, now that I am doing well, I have forgiven them,” he said.

According to reports they were both spotted shopping together yesterday 13th of May,2014.
See excerpts from TMZ (the website that released the video initially)

Jay Z and Solange Knowles went looking for jewelry together Tuesday afternoon at a high-end NYC jewelry store … TMZ has learned.
Our sources says Jay and Solange were in Mr. Flawless, where they were looking for women’s jewelry for around 20 minutes.
We’re told the pair showed no signs of strife, and looked at gems with Mr. Flawless himself. They looked, but tried nothing on. They left the store without buying anything.
Jay & Solange didn’t talk much inside the store … they pretty much just browsed quietly.
Probably it’s a usual occurrence but this was just the first to be seen by the public.
